Raymond Meeks - Oxbow

 Oxbow against the Sky - broadside number 1 by Raymond Meeks was delivered today and a really lovely thing it is too! The packaging itself if worth the purchase price, hand made with bamboo dowel, a real treat to open.

 Personal touches throughout, this is a real one-off, even though it is from an edition of 25, each differs as a result of being made by hand.

 From Raymond's website - Each broadside brings together an original set of darkroom prints i’ve been making; One as a silver gelatin print and the other, a silver halide transparency mounted to book paper.  
Abbey is deconstructing a book of french literature and physically removing text prior to mounting the transparency.  every page retains it’s history while we take certain liberties in responding individually.   As such, each broadside is unique. The cover print is a pigment inkjet on transparency, tipped in.

 The detailing is something special, I have tried to capture in the image below how the source book has been altered, with text literally scraped away by hand, very tactile.

Just announced is the third of Raymond Meek's Orchard series of collaborative artist books. Idyll sees him partnered with Mark Steinmetz, as usual it is available at three different prices with three different levels of wonderment!

Raymond Meeks Orchard Series - Crime Victim Chronicle with Deborah Luster

Crime Victim Chronicle is the first volume of the new Orchard series of collaborative journals by acclaimed photographer and photobook maker Raymond Meeks.

Published by Silas Finch, this collaboration with Deborah Luster comes in three differing editions. These pictures are from my Sustainer edition.

Crime Victims Chronicle, with Deborah Luster, received an overwhelming response at the New York Art Book Fair in early November. This collaborative journal combines Ray's photographs with a portfolio of images from Deb's forthcoming body of work, "Tooth for an Eye".

Printed in the United States on Mohawk Superfine paper. The book features a hand-sewn binding and letterpress-printed cover by esteemed book artist Rory Sparks in Portland, OR.

I posted a while ago that I had ordered "amwell, continuum" the fist of the Dumbsaint editions from Raymond Meeks, well now it has arrived - here are some pictures.

dumbsaint editions volume 1 'amwell, continuum' by Raymond Meeks

I love the photobooks by Raymond Meeks, but usually they are out of my price range. This one has the brilliant idea of a variable price structure, the more you pay the more you get. I have just gone for the $92 option with two prints, an amazing price. I suggest you get yours now, I'm sure these won't last long.
