John Stezaker intervenes with found images - typically old film stills, vintage postcards, or Hollywood headshots - by excising critical parts of the composition or by juxtaposing two seemingly unrelated images. His concise alterations have surprising surreal effect and psychological force.

John Stezaker has created the limited edition print, 'Recto/Verso' (2012) exclusively for Counter Editions. The image arose from Stezaker's early 'Dark Star' series of silhouettes cut out from mid-century actor's portraits. The layered profiles confound a straightforward reading of presence and absence. The overlaying of male and female profiles, of colour and shadow, of empty flatness and carefully modelled detail, gives rise to sensations of nostalgia, romanticism, and perhaps of voyeurism. In a world saturated by images, Stezaker's manipulations create space both physically and metaphorically for alternative interpretations, for exploring the seams and fissures of the visual world.

New Jenny Saville print available - Mirror, 2011-12

Mirror, 2011-12 is a new Jenny Saville print released in conjunction with her new retrospective show at the Modern Art Oxford gallery. As far as I know this is only the second ever Jenny Saville print after Separates the Gagosian print from 2001.

New Damien Hirst prints available at White Cube

The White Cube gallery has three new Damien Hirst prints available to buy in their online shop. They are of paintings in the 'Two Weeks one Summer' exhibition. Each print is in an edition of 75 and measure 19.5" x 15". The price is £1800 each, which is more affordable than a lot of Hirst's recent prints have been, but these are only lithographs, so posters really...

Eronja for Dazed and Confused, March 2012 by Roe Ethridge is a new limited edition print available from the Institute for Contemporary Art, London. An edition of 25, signed and numbered by the artist, this C-print is £750 for ICA members (membership is only £10) or £1000 for non-members.

Sam Taylor-Wood print available at 20x200

Jonathan is a new limited edition print by Sam Taylor Wood. It is available at several sizes and prices, the edition of 100 at 10"x8" looks pretty good value at $60 this size is nearly sold out, so move fast! You can buy it here.

I'm slightly put off by 20x200 only coming with a signed certificate of authenticity rather than the print itself being signed and numbered, this seems fine for the small prints, but a 20"x16" in an edition of 50 for $600? or the 40"x30" in an edition of 10 for $3000? These don't seem very good value compared to her editions from White Cube and Counter...

New Susan Hiller print Small Homage to Marcel Duchamp.

Just announced is a new Susan Hiller print edition from Whitechapel Gallery.

It is not cheap - £895, but has a low edition number of just 25 signed and numbered, so the price is justified.

Counter editions have two new Tracey Emin prints for sale on their website. It seems that £650 is their new starting point for their prints which seems a little steep, but they are always excellent quality and will probably be worth much more in the long run.

The lithographic prints are close in style to both her early watercolours and to her more recent large-scale paintings. Emin describes the landscape in She Lay Down (2011) as “a dream-like place - a cross between a desert and an ocean.” In this landscape the prone, solitary female has an ambiguous presence: is she lying at the bottom of the sea, or simply lying asleep?

Laying with the Olive Trees (2011) uses the repeated motif of the olive tree to bring a sense of life to the female figure lying in a state of deathly repose. Perhaps her thoughts are drifting to the rolling hills of olive groves in her much-visited Turkish-Cypriot homeland, or maybe Provence where the artist often spends her summers. Buy it here.

Kawauchi is considered one of the most noted Japanese photographers of her generation. She is known for her quiet aesthetic, offering viewers a glimpse of tender, fleeting moments that often go unnoticed. In this photograph Kawauchi captures the sun straining through a soot-filled sky. The resulting image is hauntingly beautiful, a poignant illustration of the immediate aftermath of the earthquake. James Brown is an illustrator and printmaker living and working in London. Trained as a textile and surface print designer, he worked in the clothing industry for 10 years producing print designs for numerous brands from Levis to Louis Vuitton. After two years at Hope & Glory menswear he embarked on a new career as an illustrator in 2007.

Brown has been commissioned to produce work by publishing houses, magazines and newspapers as well as advertising and design agencies. Recent clients include Oxfam, Cancer Research, The Guardian and Faber & Faber. Alongside his commercial practice he produces limited edition screen prints and linocuts. The prints reflect his interest in the printed and typographic ephemera of pop culture contrasted with the high production values and processes, which create the final product.

On the occasion of the first presentation of The Trip by Marcus Coates, the Serpentine Gallery is delighted to present a limited edition print by the artist.

English artist Marcus Coates (b.1968) creates rituals and mythologies that examine the role of the imagination and its possibilities for unconscious reasoning, often questioning the relationship between critical rationalism and belief. He seeks to test the pragmatic and uniquely useful potential of the artist within contemporary society.

In his newly commissioned work for the Serpentine Gallery,The Trip, Coates reflects on the intimate conversations he had with patients at St. John’s Hospice in London. Exploring the possibilities for dialogue between artists and those facing the end of life, Coates asked patients the question: 'What can I do for you?' The Trip documents exchanges between Coates and the late Alex H., who requested that the artist visit a remote small community in the Amazon on his behalf.

This edition made exclusively for the Serpentine is a documentary photograph, taken on Coates’ trip to the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador on behalf of Alex H.

The resulting videos, performances and installations have been shown internationally, with recent exhibitions including: The Sydney Biennial, 2010; Milton Keynes Gallery, 2010; Altermodern: Tate Triennial, London, 2009; Kunsthale Zurich, 2009; Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tokyo; Lisson Presents 2, Lisson Gallery, London, 2008; Manifesta 7, Trento, Italy, 2008.

The Trip was commissioned by the Serpentine Galllery in collaboration with St. John’s Hospice and is part of the Serpentine Gallery’s Skills Exchange programme in which artists swap and develop ideas for social and architectural change with the elderly, market traders, care workers and young people. The Trip will be presented in the Sackler Centre of Arts Education at the Serpentine Gallery.
